In recognition of its 30th Anniversary in 2026, the band is seeking your financial help to continue to provide live music throughout the region by raising at least $30,000. In addition, the band has an opportunity for a mini tour to Boston and New England to help celebrate the USA’s 250th Anniversary.
Please take the time to SUPPORT THE BAND and see how you can help us reach our goal.
Formed in 1996, the Chesapeake Brass Band is a 30+ piece American Brass Band based on the traditional British Brass Band model. The band performs a varied repertoire written and/or arranged for brass and percussion instruments by classic British and American composers.
The band is comprised of amateur and professional musicians from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. Following the brass banding tradition, it is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. The band is headquartered in Hockessin, Delaware.
The goals of the band are:
To draw upon the rich and extensive history and practices of the British brass band movement, and to prepare and present live and recorded brass band music in that tradition, and thereby:
To provide cultural and educational enrichment and entertainment to the public through high quality English style brass band music performance.
To provide a means for sufficiently skilled players of brass instruments to assemble and improve their playing and ensemble skills by playing with, and learning from, other brass players.
To work toward the revitalization of brass band music into the common fabric of American local community culture.
The band performs at concerts, festivals and schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Since its inception the band has won accolades at the North American Brass Band and Dublin, Ohio brass band competitions/festivals and is a three-time featured band at the Association of Concert Bands annual national convention.
If you are an accomplished brass player or percussionist looking for a new challenge, contact us at chesapeakebrass@aol.com or telephone 302-530-2915. The band rehearses 7pm - 9:15pm on Monday evenings in Wilmington, Delaware.
If you are planning a 250th Anniversary celebration event consider adding a traditional American brass band concert by The Chesapeake Brass Band. The band is a 35-piece all brass (and percussion) concert band. The celebration concert will feature well-known American, jazz, pop and patriotic music, ending with John Philip Sousa’s rousing Stars and Stripes Forever. A great introduction to your fireworks show, if you are planning one.
The band will be touring Boston and the New England area in early June but has a few open dates in the MidAtlanic area in late June and July.
