Welcome to the Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band
Educate – Entertain – Inspire
Formed in 1996, the Chesapeake Brass Band is a 30+ piece American Brass Band based on the traditional British Brass Band model. The band performs a varied repertoire written and/or arranged for brass and percussion instruments by classic British and American composers.
The band is comprised of amateur and professional musicians from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. Following the brass banding tradition, it is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. The band is headquartered in Hockessin, Delaware.
The goals of the band are:
To draw upon the rich and extensive history and practices of the British brass band movement, and to prepare and present live and recorded brass band music in that tradition, and thereby:
To provide cultural and educational enrichment and entertainment to the public through high quality English style brass band music performance.
To provide a means for sufficiently skilled players of brass instruments to assemble and improve their playing and ensemble skills by playing with, and learning from, other brass players.
To work toward the revitalization of brass band music into the common fabric of American local community culture.
The band performs at concerts, festivals and schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Since its inception the band has won accolades at the North American Brass Band and Dublin, Ohio brass band competitions/festivals and is a three-time featured band at the Association of Concert Bands annual national convention.
